Safety Engineer — Data Center Construction Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Safety Engineer to support the construction of mission-critical data center facilities in Vermont. This is an engineering position: you will apply safety engineering principles to analyze construction methods, design engineering controls, and develop the compliance programs that govern how work is executed on site.

You will work alongside project engineers, construction managers, and specialty contractors, translating regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions for a technically complex, high-specification build environment.

Key responsibilities Conduct systems-level hazard analysis and risk assessment for construction activities, sequencing, and site logistics Design and evaluate engineering controls for identified hazards, applying the hierarchy of controls Develop, implement, and maintain the project's safety compliance program in alignment with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction standards Analyze construction means and methods for fall protection, confined space entry, electrical safety, and crane and rigging operations, and specify the corresponding control measures Integrate safety engineering requirements into project planning, pre-task planning, and contractor coordination Evaluate incident and near-miss data to identify systemic causes and recommend corrective engineering measures Prepare technical documentation, risk assessments, and compliance reporting for project stakeholders and the client Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering — Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline. An engineering degree is required for this position. 2–4 years of professional experience applying safety engineering principles on construction or industrial projects Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards, including fall protection, confined space, electrical safety, and crane and rigging requirements Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken) Ability to work on-site full time in Vermont, including four-season outdoor site conditions

Preferred

NEBOSH International General Certificate OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification Experience on data center, semiconductor, or other advanced industrial facility projects Experience coordinating safety requirements across multiple specialty contractors
